By Amanda MudlaffMother’s Day is a celebration put in place to honor our own mothers, as well as honoring the mothers of other’s families. The festivities of mother’s day were introduced in America to recognize how mothers have been the person that has done more for you than anyone else in the world. As a child that has been blessed to have a mother by my side all my life, I can agree with that statement. My mother has been there for me through everything. She was the one that handled all my wild, crazy, shenanigans as a child, she had to deal with all of the trouble I continuously found myself in throughout my schooling, she was supportive of all my interests and hobbies over the years, and she was there to take care of me every time I ended up getting hurt in athletic career. My mother is the rock that has held me together since I was born, and I personally believe a day specifically for her is well deserved. As much as I am thankful for my mother, mother’s day is for every mother on this planet. Every mom is an amazing individual, and each and every one deserves to be honored. My nana is another strong woman that I look up to in my life. She became a widow at a very young age and was able to continue to support her family without a man by her side every day since. My friends parents are also women I look up to. They have managed to take in everyone of their daughters friends and treat them as their own. They always found time to make sure all the daughters were fed, they made sure we never forgot our things in hotel rooms at cheerleading competitions, and they always made sure we had sunscreen on while out on the lake. These women are inspirational and I look up to them so much. This mother’s day make sure to honor you mothers. Our mothers, and all the mothers of today deserve our respect this May 14th. Spend some quality time with them; put away your phones and be present with them. Give them a hug and remember to thank them for all that they’ve done for you.
