Black History Month

The first official celebration of Black History was in 1926. The second week of February was designated as a National Negro History week by The Association for the Study of African Life and History. Today, the entire month of February is dedicated to recognizing historical Black accomplishments and supporting the present Black Community. The theme for 2016’s Black History Month is “A Century of Black Life, History, and Culture.”
