As the legend goes, one year at an engineering school on St. Pat's day it was beautiful outside and the students wanted to get out of class. They convinced their professor that because St. Patrick was the patron saint of engineering they couldn't possibly have class. Surprisingly, the professor agreed and ever since St. Pat's day has been celebrated at engineering schools across the country.
