I joined KSM because I wanted to be a part of a community that wants to grow and has similar values that I have. The women in KSM are strong, supportive, and hard working. After rushing and spending time with the sisters, I knew these are the kind of people I wanted to have by my side.
What is your favorite thing about KSM?
My favorite thing about KSM is being able to see how open minded and accepting a group of people can be. Between everyone's differences, they still stick together in one sisterhood.
Why did you choose your major?
I started MSOE in the biomedical engineering program. I chose this because I have always wanted to improve hospital equipment and medicine in general. After two years, I realized that I was a much better fit for Electrical Engineering. I still want to work on medical devices as a long term goal, however, I want to do this through my new major.
Describe your culture
I am Palestinian-American. My parents were born in a small village in Palestine and raised in America. My first language is Arabic, however, I feel that learning English took over a lot of my ability to speak Arabic. A lot of my culture is surrounded by food and spending with one another. Since my family is spread out around the world now, we do lots of traveling to make sure we don't miss out on important accomplishments and moments.
