I joined KSM because I wanted to find friends that would stand by me and not be fake. I never thought I would join a sorority but after meeting a couple of the girls I instantly felt at home.
What is your favorite thing about KSM?
My favorite thing about KSM is the sisterhood. Everyone is friendly, open, and genuine. I never feel like I am alone.
Why did you choose your major?
I originally started as a Biomedical Engineer; however, I realized early that I didn't enjoy my major and switched. I am now a User Experience and Communication Design major (UXCD) I love my major because it allows me to be creative yet I can still stay in science. UXCD involves making websites and apps user-friendly.
Describe your culture
I an American however my ethnicity is 50% Puerto Rican and 50% Polish, German and Irish. My mother's father came to the USA when he was 19 from Puerto Rico and my mother's mom came to the USA when she was 13. Ironically they got married and had kids. They are your typical Puerto Rican grandparents they are Catholic, play bingo, and family is the most important thing. My father's side is very polished. I have never really asked about the history of the Maier family. I do know my dad's side is a do it yourself family, loves the great outdoors, and always has shrimp and polish sausage at family gatherings.
